Ideological Criticism

The above link is a book "Screening the Sacred: Religion, Myth, and Ideology in Popular American Film. The book was written by Joel W. Martin and Conrad Eugene Ostwalt. The third section is my focus, which is located on pages 119-125. The section is titled Ideological Criticism. Joel W. Martin is a professor of religious studies, Franklin and Marshall and has many published works; Conrad Eugene Ostwalt is a well-established author. This section of the book attempts to explain ideology. The author clarifies the original ideas of ideology, where it was rooted and how we use now. This is a great excerpt to help understand the ideology of film in America.
