Tony Kaye's Lake of Fire Movie Review

Tony Kaye was the director of American History X (1998). Kaye's previously documented work was a television series, Tony Kaye's Documentary (1995). American History X was the first film production by Kaye. As an amateur filmmaker he made many problems which resulted in later difficulties in film making. American History X (1998) was a racially charged movie which had two main characters which followed the beliefs of the neo-Nazi Movement. The neo-Nazi Movement on the other hand was a result of the Holocaust. The first link gives a Holocaust Timeline of the events which occurred beginning in 1933 leading up until 1961.

American History X: An Ideological Analysis

"American History X: A Critical View of the Movie" is a critical article written by Eric Loveday that focuses on the ideology of the film American History X. The piece was written exclusively for the Associated Press website. As many of us know, American History X is a very controversial film that focuses on several immense issues that currently exist in America. Eric Loveday points out two of these ideological issues by stating what the themes of the film are. The first thing he points out is that this film is built around the ideas of racism and white supremacy. He says that this theme helps the audience to realize that white supremacy groups are still very active and have a certain amount of strength even to this day. The other major theme that he points out is that politics is the fuel to the racism inferno. In short, Eric states that the government withholds jobs from white people. Therefore, they retaliate for this "unfair" treatment. I feel the following quote conveys the idea of Eric Loveday's entire article.

"The government is to blame for much of what is wrong with society today. Derrick blames the government for letting illegal immigrants come to our country and for letting them steal jobs from the whites within this country."

American History X

This article, entitled American History X, Morrison's Song of Solomon, and the Psychological intersections of race, class, and place in contemporary America, discusses both the movie American History X, and also the book Song of Solomon. It starts by giving a short introduction of the main character of each text, and goes directly into discussing Derek Vinyard, the main character from American History X, in depth. The main point this article hits on is the unbelievable change Derek makes in becoming a neo-Nazi, and then completely straying away from his neo-Nazi ways. This point helps develop other, smaller points, illustrations, and evaluations, such as what led up to Derek's leadership in the Skinheads, the control another skinhead leader, Cameron, had on him, and the events in jail that made him disown the skinheads. After the section about American History X in the article, Song of Solomon is discussed, and the two are both finally concluded on in the final paragraph.

One of the Greatest Movies EVER!!!

The movie American History X is a great movie and why I chose as a candidate. Its about a former neo-nazi that gets out of jail only to see that his brother has the same hatred for Blacks as he once did.

American History X Movie Review

This is a movie review for American History X by one of the most known film critics, Roger Ebert. American History X can be evaluated by most of Corrigan's methods and is an unforgettable film. This is an ideal movie for the major paper in English 161, and an interesting movie that you will want to watch over and over again, if you can stomach it.
