HERO
This is a review about Hero by Jurgen Fauth. I really liked it because he gives a great sumary of the movie but also explains all the great special features in the film. I liked "looking" at the movie more than the story itself. He also explains that it is a martial arts film and i think that most people would also watch it for the fighting and because it is "beautiful" to look at. He also compares the film a lot to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and looks at the work of the director. I liked this article because he brings up many diferent topics.

This is a link to a review on Three Kings by Anthony Leong. In his review he talks about the movie being great and gives a bit of a summary but he also goes to give us his opinion on the director, the actors and analyzes some of the formalist techniques used in this film. He like many others, gave the movie a very good review and persuades you to want to watch the movie without having to say it directly.

History of Desert Storm- 10 years later
This is a short article on what was left in Iraq after Operation desert storm. After the United States convinced the people to rebel against Saddam, the American troops pulled out leaving the people to survive on their own. It sounds like it was a very unfair thing that the U.S. government did to these people. Three Kings, directed by David O. Russell, creates a story about three soldiers before they get sent home. This left the real people of Iraq alone and vulnerable. Now with a new war, who knows what will happen to these poor people.

Spielberg the geat
I found this movie review on cantactmusic.com and it was written by Christopher Null. He says a lot of good things about Saving Private Ryan, but he also compares it to Steven Spielberg's other work. He says that it is "An excellent companion piece to Schindler's List, Spielberg has obviously poured his heart into this movie. " I think we can all agree that Spielberg is a director that has done many great works and is one of the most recognized directors in the film industry.

300
Lev Grossman wrote an article about the movie 300 directed by Zack Snyder. This article was for Time Magazine's website. The article is about taking a a different approach at fillm and about this young director who really seemed to have impressed Grossman. He has nothing but good things to say about his type of work. Grossman wants to make a point that there are other young directors that do great jobs in film and are starting to rise. A lot of the article is based around the director more than the movie itself.
"Snyder is one of small, hypertechnical fringe of directors who are exploring a new way to make movies by discarding props, sets, extras, and real life laocations"

Trashing "Saving Private Ryan"?
The article titled Saving Private Ryan: Don't try to do no Thinkin'!, was written by Curtis White for the Reading Culture. White criticizes this WWII movie for its "unrealistic" scenes nad story line. He thinks that the movie over rated and pokes fun at different scenes. His take on the movie is a lot different from many otheres. Most people think that this movie was great and excellent but White had a total different point of view on it.
"Forget this plot......it's a cover for the real story."

"The Butterflies"
The page to this link gives a good summary of the story and also provides backround information on the movie, In The Time of the Butterflies. It does a good job of telling what went out during that time in the Dominican Republic, and talks about who and what the Mirabal sisters represented. It also tell about the author, Julia Alvarez, who first wrote the book. I think that the book and the movie turned out so well because alvarez also knew the revolution personally. Her parents too, were involved in the revolution and also had to flee the country. It's a great story, and i think it is a movie that people should watch because, many stories like theirs are not always told. she stresses the need to remember the past
