Zhang Yimou playing with Colors

Zhang Yimou loves playing with colors and expressing his ideas about China in his films. Although the article is about a films called "Happy Times" the article mostly talks about his repeitions in the films in directed. According to Huffman, Yimou has a habit of transcending colors throughout his films. Just because his opening shot seems colorblind does not mean the rest of the film is so. Along with having an artistically use of color, Yimou also puts the same effort into sound, because he believe it is also an important aspect of the film. His elaborate use of color and sound is used to describe his ideas of China's society to the audience, but it is hard for western viewers to understand the concept. I myself have trouble understanding, even though i have part Chinese blood in my vein. Although all his movie differ in many aspect, Yimou masterpieces can easily be spotted through the use of color, sound, and its theme.

Three Kings and it sarcasm

This article speaks mostly about how the director perception of the movie. David O' Russell goes on forth with the film sequence adding along silly quirks to set at ease the audience emotions so that the danger and horrific sequence of the film does not drag the audience into sadness and tears. As David O' Russell steer the film into the action movie genre, he stops momentarily to push forth the notion that the ideal of war is not that great, and the humor that we are laughing at is very severe. should we feel bad that in the mist of all the poverty and death, as we are sitting here cracking up?

Three kings and David O. Russell

David O Russel is an actor, also a director. His films genre are mostly comedy, Three Kings is no different. Russell films tend to have a serious topic, but most of the time it is overwhelm by the humor in the film. Even in the face of war, Russell can still make a fun of begin held captive in a war invaded, third world country. Russell is confusing, because his films make the audience uncomfortable and unable to express the humor in the film or the sadness that is comprised in the background.

Crash and it's ideology

The article "Crash" is written by Robert Jensen, a professor at the University of Texas, and Robert Wositzer, a film associate producer of the forthcoming documentary on pornography "The Price of Pleasure." They claims that the film "Crash" ideology revolvse around the notion of White supremacy. This article appeared online at Znet.com, which is a website about daily commentaries. Both Jensen and Wositizer agreed that the film is good and it's not a racist film. "Crash is white supremacist because it minimizes the reality of white supremacy. Its faux humanism and simplistic message of tolerance directs attention away from a white-supremacist system and undermines white accountability for the maintenance of that system." Jensen and Wositzer is reffering to the way the film puts all the violence towards minorities, and the good; as the white people are neglected and get the easy way out of guilt and fraud. Throughout the movie the whites gets hurt the least and is positioned in the most comfortable situations during the whole film.

Violence of Forrest Gump

"New Man, Old Brutalisms? Reconstructing a Violent History in Forrest Gump" by Karen Boyle of University of Wolverhampton, UK wrote that the movie was well made, but the violence in the film was neglected by the viewers. She states that liberals hails Forrest Gump as a politically correct character, however Republicans sees it as a very conservative film. The reason is because of the comparison and contrast of Forrest Gump and Jenny’s life, his wife. Jenny, being the smarter person and a liberal lives a horrible life. Jenny got kicked out of school and did drugs while Forrest Gump became a war hero, millionaire and national celebrity. He was able to achieve all of this because he is a white dominate male. Filmmakers said that the film is apolitical, but it is very unconvincing. Boyle dislike the fact that the movie is male dominance and disregards women presence, except in the essence of evil. Boyle says that the role of Forrest Gump represent the dominate culture. Forrest Gump removed all liberalism; which was represented by bad deeds and events in the movie. The film backstabs minority groups and upheld the white males. Although Forrest Gump graphic is not bloody, the violence is just as bad as Pulp Fiction.
