The Theme of Casablanca

The main theme of the movie Casablanca is personal transformation of the main character Rick Blaine. In the beginning of the movie Blaine is selfish, but at the end of the movie he becomes the person who sacrifices his own happiness for love and honor.
"Rick is aware that if he leaves Casablanca with Ilsa as planned, her husband Victor will be killed by the Nazis. Rather than see a married woman sacrifice herself sexually to Captain Renault, Rick allows the couple to win the needed money at his roulette wheel. "
